Lockheed has delivered the first of 12 LOSAT vehicles to the Army. These are Humvees fitted with a rack of Line of Sight Anti-Tank missiles, a new hyper-velocity missile with a kinetic penetrator for a warhead. Such a weapon, if it proves workable, has tactical advantages over wire-guided missiles as only direct-fire kinetic weapons have the highly desirable "drive back" effect against enemy armored attacks.--Stephen V Cole
