Turkey is threatening to throw the German Leopard tank out of its $7 billion contest for a new main battle tank. The Turks are concerned that buying German equipment will simply buy problems in the future as the German Green Party tries every year to block any sale of military equipment (or spare parts for it) to Turkey. (The Greens, and other German leftists, oppose the Turkish use of military force against the Kurds.)--Stephen V Cole

The US Army spent $50.7 million buying 6,700 trailers, but the GAO reports that the Army will now have to spend another $4.3 million modifying the trucks that will tow it to match the trailer hitches.--Stephen V Cole
