: Central Command (which controls the Afghan War and will control any future war in Iraq) has evaluated its current missions and operations and has indicated what it needs to see in the war of national spending priorities:

@ More precision-guided bombs, including greater production and new types of weapons.

@ More airlift, increasing the C-17 purchase from 180 to 222 (or more) and retrofitting C-5s to keep them flying and make them more efficient.

@ A new generation of amphibious landing ships, backed up by the V-22 and the Advanced Amphibious Vehicle.

@ The new Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (the next generation of Army
trucks).

@ Larger purchases of AH-64D Longbow Apache attack helicopters.--Stephen V Cole
