Malaysia has decided to split its fighter purchase, buying a dozen FA-18E/F Super Hornets and some number of Su-30MKM fighters from Russia. Some see this as a ploy to get one bidder to offer a better offset agreement in order to get the whole order, but the Malaysians seem satisfied with the idea of operating a mixed fighter fleet. They already have MiG-29s and some older FA-18s. --Stephen V Cole
