Greece said that 25 Turk F-16s violated Greek airspace over the islands of Lesvoc and Limnos. The accusation comes a week after a similar incident, where the Turks alleged Greek Air Force plans violated Turkish airspace. What's different about these latest incidents? The "hushed tones" of the complaints of airspace violations. This is a key indication that Greece and Turkey are serious about reaching new political accommodations and aren't going to let "fly-by incidents" derail the negotiations. As noted in earlier editions of FYEOex, Greece and Turkey both know there's money to be made in Aegean tourism, but the economic benefits won't occur until political cooperation begins.
