In Kashmir, rebel violence left a soldier, five civilians and ten rebels dead.

In Kashmir, along the Line of Control, Indian and Pakistani troops fought with artillery and rifles as India sought to establish a new fortified position on the line. At least four Indian troops were killed. At least one Pakistani soldier died.

India says it will not withdraw any more troops from the Pakistan border until there is a reduction in the violence in Kashmir. India believes Pakistan is still allowing rebels to cross into Indian Kashmir. The rate of violence in Kashmir is as high as ever, with over ten rebel attacks a day, on average.

Along the Afghan border, Pakistani troops and tribal militias continue to arrest foreigners. Two Palestinians were caught recently, and sentenced to six months in a tribal jail, followed by deportation. Pakistani police have increased searches for al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, as the terrorists increase their threatened, and actual, attacks.
