  Russia ended two weeks of military exercises in the Caspian sea. Sixty warships at sea and some 10,000 troops on land demonstrated that Russia still had considerable military capabilities in the area. What makes Iran nervous is a 1924 treaty it signed with Russia which was to keep Russian warships out of the Caspian sea. Russia invaded northern Iran after World War II, but was forced to withdraw by the US.
