The US and Japan continue to resist North Korean extortion attempts. The new South Korean president, 56 year old Roh Moo-Hyun, was sworn in on the 25th and is still filling cabinet posts and figuring out how to deal with the failure of his predecessors "Sunshine Policy" towards the north and continuing allegations that his predecessor paid half a billion dollars to the north in bribes to get the appearance of cooperation.
