Four North Korean warplanes (including two MiG-29s) intercepted an American RC-135 electronic reconnaissance aircraft flying in international waters (240 kilometers off the coast). One warplane turned on its targeting radar, but did not fire.  This is the first time North Korean MiGs have intercepted a US recon aircraft since 1969. In that incident, an EC-121 was shot down, killing 31 Americans.
