Observation posts along the DMZ exchanged fire. North Korean troops fired four shots from an AK-47, nearby South Korean troops fired 17 from an M-60 machine-gun. Apparently no one was hurt and the incident lasted less than a minute. Such incidents occur once or twice a year. Often they are accidents, as troops on both sides move near the DMZ with loaded weapons all the time.
