 At least two dozen Chechen rebels attacked a village just across the border in Dagestan and killed nine border guards. The rebels are apparently staying in the village. Chechen rebels usually pass this way each Spring and Winter as they move between Chechnya and Winter camps they maintain in Georgia, to the south. No reason was given for their attack on the Dagestan villages.
