Army Aviation is worried because it has not even been mentioned in General Shinseki's speeches and plans for the new medium-weight easier-to-deploy Army. The aviation branch notes that its Apaches are the most lethal systems on the battlefield and can, if necessary, deploy themselves overseas. There are fears that the Albanian Helicopter Fiasco may have reduced General Shinseki's faith in the Aviation branch. The real question is whether expensive helicopter programs will be canceled to raise money to pay for armored cars.--Stephen V Cole
