China is buying a hundred replacement engines for it's recently purchased Su-27 fighters. This indicates that China may intend to have the Si-27 pilots train intensively. This is expensive, as Russian made high performance jet engines wear out more quickly than Western made engines. China has a license to make the Su-27, but not the engines.
