Discussion Board on this DLS topic
The United States and Russia are sending teams of software,
missile defense, experts to each others military facilities to conduct joint
training anti-missile exercises. Both nations are exploring ways to combine
their anti-missile defense efforts with those of other NATO nations. Although
Russia is on good terms with Iran right now (because Russia is providing Iran
with nuclear power plant technology), Russia also knows that hard liners among
the Islamic conservatives that control Iran would love to fire a nuclear tipped
missile at Russia. There’s also the danger that Pakistan might fall under the
control of Islamic radicals. So effective ballistic missile defense is something
both nations, and many others in Europe as well, are interested. Next year,
Russian technical teams will come to the United States to conduct more joint
missile defense simulation exercises.
