Discussion Board on this DLS topic

The Russian T-55 tank, a late 1940s design, is still in use, and sometimes even being upgraded. Peru, for example, has upgraded some of its T-55s with computerized fire control systems, 100mm armor piercing shells of the latest design, GPS and two 9M14 ATGM (anti-tank guided missile) launchers on the side of the turret. The 9M14 is a wire guided missile with a range of 3,000 meters. Peru has about 250 T-55s, although less than a hundred a in working condition, and only a few have been upgraded. But with the better fire control, and the missiles, the tank becomes a players on the 21st century battlefield.
