Taiwan Studies Carrier Killing
by James Dunnigan

Discussion Board on this DLS topic

The Taiwanese military are taking seriously reports of China building aircraft carriers. To that end, the Taiwanese have conducted studies and exercises to develop the best methods for attacking aircraft carriers. Taiwan has aircraft, submarines and ships equipped with anti-ship missiles (as well as land based anti-ship missiles), all of which can be used to attack an aircraft carrier. But the carrier will be escorted by other warships and protected by missiles and some of its aircraft. The Taiwanese are finding that taking down a modern carrier can be a complicated piece of work. This was confirmed when they consulted with colleagues from the U.S. Navy.
