Taliban Threaten Arizona and Nevada
Next Article → AIR WEAPONS: Small, Smart And Unwanted

September 8, 2009: The U.S. Air Force fears that the Taliban may attempt a terror attack against the U.S. bases (in Nevada and Arizona), where the operators control (via satellite link) Predator and Reaper UAVs flying over Pakistan. These UAVs have killed dozens of Taliban and al Qaeda leaders in the past year. The terrorists have fired mortars at the Pakistani Air Force bases that the UAVs operate from, but these attacks have been too limited to do much damage, much less interfere with flight operations. The Taliban are getting desperate.

It's unlikely that the Taliban could carry out an attack on the well-guarded bases, in the United States, containing the UAV operators. But the terrorist chatter (electronic, and on the ground) is getting increasingly nasty and strident.

Dozens of civilians in Taliban controlled tribal territory have been accused of being spies (providing location data for the UAV attacks), and executed. Most of these victims are believed to be innocent, as the Taliban have been unable to produce any concrete evidence that the U.S. is relying that heavily, on informants, to provide target locations. Meanwhile, no matter what the Taliban and al Qaeda do, the Hellfire missiles continue to find their targets. Thus carrying out an attack on the UAV operators, in the United States, has become a popular subject of conversation. At least enough for air force security officials to take notice.

And lets not forget the Mexican Cartels...who, have made incursions into the U.S easily. Just how hard would it actually be for Al Qaida or the Taliban to slip some of their more hardcore operators into central America....or "Venezualla" pay large sums of money to Coyotes (human traficers) to get them safely across the vast exposed underbelly of the United States, using "human pack-mules" to bring instead of Cocane and Herion into the US, but bit's and pieces of portable missle systems that have at least a good amount of range. Assemble said weapons systems in Arizona and Nevada at prime US military targets...and fire away.
The Taliban and Al Qaida are patient, months or even years can go buy with this slow methodical movement of deadly "parts" moved by the Mexican Cartels for the "Right price". Housed anywhere the Cartels have already set up "safe-houses". waiting and watching for the "Right time" for their attack.
Oh, some can laugh and say that would never happen..those same people have really never studied history and "if there is a will, there's a way" tactic will happen.

If they take years, then it won't happen. If Al Qaida can pull it off, has to do it within months start to finish. "coyotes" are motivated by money not ideals. How long do you think they can keep a secret? Slow, methodical movements of deadly parts? They are having a hard time methodically moving in their own backyard in Afghanistan. The only possible means of attack are going to be swift across the border and attack, or homegrown within our borders without outside help. The homegrown is their best bet and yet they were still being caught over the last 8 yrs. On second thought, now that we can't interrogate (thanks Obama, you're swell) maybe they can take months or years undetected. Here's hoping your wrong.http://www.strategypage.com/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Images/face7.gif" alt="" />

One only has to get lucky once.  Are we that lucky or are we that good?  (We being the United States).  I think we are that good, and there are many men and women out there wishing their exploits would be made into books and movies, knowing full well they cannot be.

First in, first to die.  FTM, RTB  seagravedriver

True enough, anyone or group can get lucky. From what i have observed, alot of things have to go right, and alot of those things don't. So, are we going to catch all the clues and signs to stop everyone from doing us harm? Of course not, but I find it interesting of the amount we do catch. And let's not forget the bad guys aren't perfect either, that's why there hasn't been widespread mayhem(on US soil). They(terrorists) are not waiting for anything, or building strength, they're being stopped as you said. As long as we keep the pressure on, not forget the past, and show no mercy to the bastards, we'll come out fine. My fear is this country will go soft again when or if things calm down. That's how alot of people think in this country-out of sight(news) out of mind.
