Can't tell you how many times I stood watch as my ship acted as the "plane guard" while conducting ops in the Tonkin Gulf. I've been retired now for a number of years but every time I see a photo like this one I have a moment when I can smell the salt air and feel the deck rolling under my feet again. It was good to be "Haze Grey and Underway". I served on Frigates throughout my career.
