murabit821    10/19/2007 6:48:33 PM
In french army , Some platoons have Senior NCO in PL position
for example third infantry platton in company , or third armoured platoon in armoured squadron.

have somebody info why french army have NCO in this position ?
or which advantages are from this ?(money saving, officer saving?)

finaly what is yours opinions about this ?

Why not? There was a position of 'Platoon Sergeant Major' in some British units where a lack of trained junior officers was met with experienced Warrant Officers taking up the role. I've also had a platoon commander and a divisional officer who've come through the OR/enlisted route. In fact some platoon commanders may be newly-commissioned officers who've had years of experience previously as an SNCO/WO.

I'm pretty sure theres good and bad officers and NCOs, its probably got a lot more to do with the individual than the specific route they've taken to get there!
