Best leader? In what way?
All around. Like who acomplished more, who was better in foreign and domestic policy, who was more effective in accomplishing what he wanted done, and who will be remembered in history as a better president.
My list of the 5 greatest presidents in US History
1)George Washington
2)Abraham Lincoln
3)FDR
4)Ronald Reagan
5)Theodore Roosevelt
I think this five men accomplished more in their terms than most of the other presidents have all together. I put FDR 3rd over Reagan because he was in a tougher time in history, and had more on his table than Reagan.

FDR also CAUSED most of the tough situations he had to deal with, or did nothing to improve those situations until the situations became crises.

The quickest way to get my grandfather to curse was to praise FDR in his presence.

You think FDR caused WW2 and the Great Depression?

Caused the Great Depression? No. Fixed it? Hell no.

WW2?

He damned sure did nothing to prevent it, and put the USN in a damned awkward position for years until the US finally declared war.

I think the crew of the Reuben James would have been a touch better off in an open war, rather than dicking around Iceland on a "neutrality patrol"

How could he have prevented WW2 if Europe was playing the appeasement game with Germany, and wanted no part in another world war?

That is why FDR is a great leader, and the German Nation still after sixty years has to atone for the sins of their fathers.

If you want to curse at the results of what FDR tried, blame the American PEOPLE. They chose him and they are individually and collectively responsible for the heroism and stupidity they displayed under his leadership. He actually did remarkably well with bad economic and political advice, an isolationist movement that handcuffed him, and a political governing class (Huey Long, Father Conghlin a whole raft of Klukkers in the US Senate, etc.) as evil as anything ever vomited up in the Reich.

He was no Lincoln, but then he was no super genius (Lincoln was a super genius.), either. Hindsight is always perfect. I try to look at him with forced imperfect knowledge to see what he must have looked at each night after each day of his work.

He holds up rather well, mistakes, and all.

If you had a choice between Reagan and FDR, to be the president today, who would you choose, or let me put it this way which mens beliefs and leadership style would be better for the US right now.

KKK and isolationists in the senate? The hell you say! Those men were fine, upstanding....

Never mind, the hip waders just got flooded......

I'll grant that our political leadership outside of the White House was abhorrent, but some of his "fixes" for the economy were downright destructive.
