Recent talks in Moscow, between Iran and six powers were without result. Also meetings with IAEA were without progress. There doesn't seem to be much options left. Israel issued a statement calling for more sanctions, but it could be a maneuver. Israel also issued a statement that they want some breakthrough to happen not in upcoming weeks but also not in months. That could indicate a period of about two months. That puts possible attack date somewhere in the middle of the August this year.

Nichevo    have we got a problem yet?   6/28/2012 6:51:09 AM
Ok, Iran has the F-16 airframe, we don't care because aeroshells ain't squat nor engines and all we care about is the avionics. China will learn nothing from this airframe when they buy it. Surely not the wife in Iran. Mmmkay. How about this? http://rt.com/usa/news/texas-1000-us-government-906/" target="_blank">link Maybe they'll just buy themselves something fresher. Or have they?

That would only happen if the JCS opinion of the whole thing is determined to not matter.  Even the Israeli's admit that an attack will only delay Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and their own people are opposed to picking a fight with Iran.  The idea of attacking Iran is very big with former Bush Administration officials (the same ones that brought us the largest string of foreign policy/national security disasters in US history) who base their logic of attacking Iran on the incredibly flimsy assumption that hostilities would cease when the USA (and whoever else is stupid enough to  get involved) says its time to stop.

The JCS clearly doesn't buy that, for obvious reasons.  And none of this counts the potential economic damage, the financial burdens, etc.

Fortunately, the POTUS seems to have little interest in taking the advice of the clown posse that gave victory to Iran, the Taliban, Al Qaida, and those that wish ill on the US of A, while systematically causing the nation to go broke after inheriting an $800 billion budget surplus.

Clearly all of the sabre-rattling by 'Nuther Yahoo is just a way to keep his base energized and the ISraeli population fearful, and to keep power over the US:  Israel knows we'll back them if they start some shit there, so Israel's threats are more directed to the US, not Iran.

Just another example of how "Good Friends" treat each other.

Now just to be fair the US is getting pressure from the Saudis as well to be hard on Iran.  And it would be added injury to the disaster of Iran's growing influence in IRaq (courtesy of the US removing Saddam for them) for Iran to have a bomb.

It's a good thing that being surrounded by US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan didnt make IRan feel so insecure that they put making a nuke a high priority...

@SP:  You forgot to mention the difference in the quality of pilots flying the planes.    A significant omission.

I agree with you on the time frame a friend ( ex-Israel Pilot 67 & 73 wars ) of mine just came back from there. And he says less than two months before it will happen. They aren't going to wait for help from this Administration, because in his words it will not come.

So the Israeli's attack before absentee balloting in the US? That would paint BO into a corner and expose him as the fraud he is. Oh wait, i forgot, when in doubt what to do-blame Bush.

Or timed with overt Arab support for Syrian rebs led by the Saudi's maybe. Iranians will have two fronts to contend with then since they have mutual defense treaty with Syria. A treaty that will likely not be honored by the way. But predictions from reliable sources on an attack on Iran have been coming for 10yrs so who knows.

B.O. a fraud?  Please do tell.

He made the risky call and got Osama. We are withdrawing from IRaq and Afghanistan - and he surged when militarily necessary, right?

Gitmo closure was blocked by Repubs.

His record on foreign policy SMOKES Bush's.  Neither today nor in the future will the decision to invade Iraq be seen as anything but a massive blunder.

Hes 'Socialist' agenda?  Oh for heaven's sake we have a Nationalized/Socialized military.  Education.  Transportation System.  National park system.  Telecomm regulations.  FDA.  But when it comes to Healthcare, the wingnuts come out all bat-guano crazy.  SOCIALISM!!!!!  Yup, Japan and Germany and Canada are all freakishly socialist, right?

I have an aunt who is a kool-aid drinking Fox news tea-bagger.  Oh how she loves to rail against Obama.  She is a teacher, has excellent benefits and a retirement thanks to her union.  Without that union she prolly would have been fired, and hell she's already declared bankruptcy once.  She drinks, smokes and is gonna be one helluva drain on the healthcare system when she, like her mother, develops alzheimers and is institutionalized for 9 years before an organ system wears out.  BUT HOW DARE ANYONE SAY THAT WE ALL NEED TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE.  I mean after all we all do have car insurance, right?
