One thing about the WMDs in Iraq fiasco that's always bugged me is, if Iraq WAS such a threat to stability in the Middle East and to the interests of the Western world, then why didn't the Israeli's take it upon themselves to remove that threat long before the Bush administration began drawing up plans to remove Saddam in early 2001?

The Israeli's, destroyed that French-built nuclear reactor back in the 80's and even planned to remove Saddam in the 90's.

The Israeli's and Iranians must have thought they'd struck gold when they found out Bush and Co. were planning on going into Iraq, on their own if need-be. What better way to sort out a troublesome neighbour, than to get the most powerful military machine in the world to do it for you.

The Iranians controlled the intelligence coming out of the Iraqi exile groups, and the Isreali's egged the Americans on with titbits of dodgy intelligence on WMDs in Iraq.
