fiction or non?
Non-fiction- Inside the Aquarium by 'Victor Suvorov', or any of his books.  I don't know his real name.  He defected from the GRU in the 70's or early 80's.

-------------------------------------------- either: For nonfiction there is Istanbul Intrigues(Barry Rubin), the great game trilogy(Peter Hopkirk) The Unseen War in Europe(author forgotten) and Battleground Berlin(author forgotten)as well as The Man Who Never Was For fiction I have liked the Blackford Oakes series. I also liked, The Polish Officer by Alan Furst. And of course there are Victorians like Kim, and Prisoner of Zenda.
