I thought they were going to mention it, but they hinted it in the gas turbine, then TOTALLY missed it.....AVIATION!
It's changed the entire way of warfare over the 20th century.  We've have entire naval battles where the ships never contact each other.
Entire Navies are designed to protect the aircraft carriers...How can they have skipped this?

Yeah, aviation!  The carrier replacing the battleship as the heart of the fleet.  Plus radar, sonar.
