MiG 's genarally designed  for  interception.
During the Korean war some story  of Us  pilot says  ;MiG's still can  fly even got  shoot  because  of  the hydraul&&05;k  sytem kept simple ,(bullet  just in  and out from  fuselage ) and  higher service  ceiling and  climb faster.
On that  time US  plane  has arm-gun  superioty.
Also  Chinese and  Korean pilot  was awkward to use  MiG's
They say MiG-29  has  11 G .

"While the Constant Peg pilots leaned that the Soviet aircraft were quite maneuverable, they also learned about a lot of interesting quirks, which could be exploited in combat." should read  " While the Constant Peg pilots learned that the Soviet aircraft were quite maneuverable, they also learned about a lot of interesting quirks, which could be exploited in combat."

Plainly the author of this hasn't taken the time to read Red Eagles, the source of the MiGs is openly discussed - the early MiG-21s came from Indonesia, while much of the later stuff including the MiG-23s came from Egypt.

Also, while the pilots all adored the MiG-21, an amazing aircraft which retained nose authority at 70 knots (which is absolutely insane) - they hated the MiG-23 which was described as an aircraft that "tried to kill you every time you flew it", such was the nature of its unpredictable handling and nightmarish dogfighting "ability".

Of course Constant Peg didn't end, it just became something else.  The Air Force has been playing with Mig-29s and Su-27s for many years now - I hope to live long enough to read those analysis reports when they are declassified in 20 or 30 years time.
