The President has never had so much power; the executive power is now overwhelming. The military industrial complx is licking its chops. Good ol'cold war policy all over again!

What was wrong with the US's cold war policy? Unless you think the world would had been better off with the Soviets winning..... The president never had so much power? Are you ignorant? There are several presidents that wielded much more military and economic power to the sorrow of our enemies. However, I will say this. My president-whether I voted for him or not, is leading us to into a military, economic, and possibly cultural battle-one that probably was destined to be fought anyway. All I know, is there is plenty of history to be made, and we'll have a ringside seat. Enjoy.

Malrait, "The President has never had so much power;" You seem to know nothing of American history or government. You might pick up a copy of THE IMPERIAL PRESIDENCY, a book something like 30 years old to see how wrong you are.

It seems to me to be rather immateriel who is president. The role of the president is so constricted with demands and considerations, that presidents tend to make the same dicisions. The exeption was Kennedy. His ideas nearly threw the world into a nuclear war, when he with a little shrewdness could have come to an understanding with Castro - that is before the Bay of Pigs. He started the Vietnam war - a war I've never understood. Jimmy Carter nearly wasted an advantage in strategic nuclear weapons, but not in an irredeemable way. Nixon opened up China and tore up the belly of Russian air defence. But generally presidents don't stray very much.
