"A lot of Cold War era stuff has reached its shelf life and must be replaced. Poongsan is looking for some of that business by offering high quality and low prices."

Consider that the ammunition that is aging out (reaching the end of "its shelf life") might have components which are salvagable - particularly the penetrators in APFSDS rounds.  Wouldn't the Poongsan Corporation be in a particularly advantageous position to offer customers both safe disposal (with improved controls on environmental impact) and the recycling of still-useful elements to use in the manufacture of new tank ammo?

APDS (Armor Piercing Discarding Sabot) is different from FSDS (Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot).  APDS is basically a sub-caliber bullet while FSDS is more like an arrow or crossbow bolt.

Genarally  more  effective  against concrete structure but sometimes  usde  against tank  we  can  nebtion  H.E.S.H High Explosive  Squah  Head  too.Shock  wave caused   even sometimes can  make  explode the ammunition  inside  the  tank.
Also  H.E.I.A.P.   High  Explosive Ýncendiary \ Armor Piercing Ammunition ; both  kinetic  energy  penetrator  and  high explosive together effective  composite  armour.

The HESH round can only be fired by rifled guns which are mostly out of favor.  The UK and India seem to think the rifled tank gun and HESH round are worth the effort but few others and India of course also has many smooth bore 125mm as well.

HEAIP (one big Roufoss round) - does this also need to be fired from a rifled barrel?

Re:  squash head...it doesn't rely on velocity for penetration (helps with accuracy) so why can't it be adopted for smoothbore like a HEAT round - especially if it has superior demo and frag capabilities - given that far more tank rounds are fired at <not> tanks...

The superiority of HESH in some applications comes from the fact that it is the heaviest and has the largest amount of explosives of any of the rounds. A fin stabilized HESH round will have no more, and probably less, than a full bore HEAT round because of stability limits. Spin also helps the HESH round spread on impact before detonating. Not sure that HESH has superior fragmentation to HEAT, neither type is required to produce fragments, so it would be a design trade-off decision. HESH definitely produces more blast.

As for demo capabilities, the 120mm M908 HE-OR-T [High Explosive Obstacle Reduction Tank] round has been judged superior to the older 165mm HESH round for most applications. Instead of exploding on the surface it penetrates the target to create a tamped explosion and rips it apart from the inside.
