Where is Medal of Honor on your list. i've played the demo versions of six of the games on your list and none of them come near it. I've just tried out JDoom, a graphically updated version of Doom. Still more fun than most of those on your list.

I ve got to agree, as a PC gamer and addict of internet play, I would put Medal of Honour Allied Assult and its add on, SpearHead in the top 3. In my opinion the best for PC internet play is definetly Battlefield 1942, with the mods that are available at the mo you can convert the game to different periods including modern day and the Vietnam Era. I ve got to say that Im currently hooked on the Vietnam Mod, huge maps of Vietnams with say 20+ players on each side. Theres something so cool about leaning out the side of a Huey on the end of a 50' pouring bullets into the rice paddys below as Viet Kong shoot RGG's from below. Theres one map entitled 'Charlie Doesnt Surf' that is heavily based upon the Attack by 7th Air Cav in the Film Apocalpse Now. Wagner and everything!

I would add Operation Flashpoint and its add-on, Resistance to the list. There are some accuracy issues, vehicle-wise (e.g. 3-crewed M1A1 tanks), but the missions are very open-ended as to how you can carry them out.

By the way, how is the accuracy on BF1942? I've been thinking about getting it a lot, but have been reluctant to take the plunge ($70.00 total with add-on)

Yes i think Operation FLash point and MOHAA should also be up ther. I have played them and ther are impressive. Spent bf1942 is a very relistic toward ww2 time and its very fun to play online. Also it ther are manyt mods for it so it never gets boring. I would recomment Secrets of WW2 or Desert combat!

Im hooked on Vietkong at the moment, the AI of your squad mates can be a bit frustrating, but the game play and scope is brilliant.

No mention of First to Fight or SWAT 4, both games have great AI, probably the most realistic shooters on the market.

Yep, I just picked up Doom 3 and it is intense and scary. It's not realistic at all since it is a fantasy setting pitting a Marine against demons, but it rocks nonetheless!

I can't believe only one person has mentioned Operation Flashpoint thus far. There were (are) so many good, right things going on in that game from a military enthusiast- especially with the mod community... There were a few realism issues;
3-crewed tanks for instance, being able to command no more than 12 troops at a time, and "reloadable" LAWs (mostly due to engine limitations), but the game designers made it a highly adaptable system. Mod and addon creators took this to new heights with all sorts of expansions- WW2 (including excellent Finland and East Front addons), most of the Warsaw Pact arsenal, tube artillery (very well done IMHO), Viet Nam maps and units, you just can't loose.
Recently the sequel Armed Assault has come out, which seems to feature a better graphics engine and tweaked gameplay, but it isn't for sale in the US yet so I can't recommend it personally.
