I wonder if GE (F110) is listening? Heavier, but the engines don't MELT in reheat.

The AL-31 series and its Chinese clown clone have a rather severe heat flaw.

  Ever notice how successful Indian business people are outside India? That's because they don't have to work with the Indian Government. For years India was the USSR's gofer in the third world, the pay back was cheap weapons. Well the antiamerican, anticolonial, anticapitalist, hand under the table, life timers who write the government contracts have learned the first rule of Capitalism. You get what you pay for.
  It just a shame that pilots are paying for it.

Indians were smart they bought twin engined planes. Hence if one fails, the other one will bring it back. Tell me more about F35 disaster unfolding after $400 billion expense after 20 years.

We test and TEST.

Corrected for inflation the F-35 Program is about the cost of the F-111. In the end the Aardvark was a deadly aircraft, to the enemy.

And if the F-35 doesn't pan out, the 47's will be there. (robots, so who cares?)

Not every decision works. How are those Kilos working out for India? Fixed them yet? I wouldn't dive in one.

  The difference is: 1) we can afford it 2) we learn from our mistakes 3) we have enough F15's/F22's/F18's to cover  our air space and power projection 4) our aircraft have very long life cycles.

What's the status of China's planes using Russian or Russian designed engines?

India had a lot of problems with the RD-33 engines used in the Mig-29 as well, back in the 1990s;

Nevertheless, those issues were resolved. Not only does that make these new problems with the AL-31 unusual, but so does the fact that India has operated them for over a decade without any problems like these --- and then they suddenly appeared.

By the looks of it, it seems like Lyulka recently started taking dangerous shortcuts in quality control behind India's back.

 They did not just suddenly appear. China has had them for years and complained. Now INDIA is publicly screaming about it..

 And NO the RD-33s haven't been fixed either.
