Batou    Unspoken KPI's   9/16/2014 12:00:39 AM
I see this in Corporate Australia, the Federal Public Service and it's even creeping into the Royal Australian Navy - The Unspoken KPI: How many hours you can just SIT at your workstation. Whether or not it's justified...

When I was just a lad working on the Main Roads Dept - I saw this mentality with machine operators (so of whom keep a cordial bottle to piss in) to never ever, ever leave the cabin of your machine- cause if you did- someone would replace you.

Fast forward to the 21st Century: never ever, ever leave you computer cubicle or workstation. Be there for 20 hours a day minimum and you are safe in your position.

Even if you ate a carrot a day - you will still lose muscle tone. Exercise is so important but from the every enlarging butt cheeks I see in the services - mil and fed - we are losing the battle cause of the Unspoken KPI....

Exactly the military culture in support roles mean if you don't look busy you are slacking off. Fortunetly I have an answer. use of cheap biometric devices to measure weight and movement can be used to monitor a persons activity levels 24/7 and depending on ones performance you would be paid a bonus. Studies have confirmed paying people to lose weight is effective, and keeping fit requires time and effort outside working hours that should be recompensed.
