Su-30MKI is unique variant used by Indian Air Force. Other variants, ones for Russian AF and for other countries, do not have the same accident rate. It might mean that there is something wrong with particular variant or, simply, that Indians fly more often.

There has been a Government inquiry into maintenance in the Indian Airforce. They know they have a maintenance and reliability problem. HAL distributes the spare for Aircraft maintenance. The Indian Airforce does the maintenance now. HAL claims the airforce is not doing basic servicing and maintenance on time based on the parts they have not ordered. HAL wants to take over maintenance as they consider they can do a better job. Maintenace is a problem in India. The above US style  beat-up balaming Russia for everything is typical US style. The situation is a lot more complex. The figures for the Mig21 above are to be expected for a 1 engine aircraft that is getting very old and had a lot of use.

The Indians are a well trained Western air force.  They put stresses in peacetime on their machines that Russian aircraft were never meant to take. So the Russians planes meant to be used hard and briefly only in war... break.
