Stating the F-16 will "probably" be in service 40 years and "possibly" 50 years sounds nice but it's clearly wrong.  The F-16 will be in service in 2018 (40 years) and will almost certainly still be in service in 2028 or for 50 years.  One could add possibly 60 years.

Given that there are probably 30-year old airframes still in service, a plane built in 2012 could well be flying in 2042, well over 60 years from the first production models.  Pretty good.

Of course the USAF will prolly still be flying the B-52, the F-16 will never be the longest-lived military jet!  (Those B-52s will outlive us all.)
