all part of the plan...

You know that Russian humanitarian aid convoy that rolled into Ukraine? Well, there's an old '30s joke about a factory having really bad employee relations... so bad the employees took to stealing everything they could put in their pockets. It got so bad the company started searching all the employees as they left for the day. So, this guy filled up a wheelbarrow full of sand and rolled it through the security gate. There was no rule against taking sand so the guard probed it with a stick, found nothing, and sent the guy on his way. Next day, the guy did the same thing, and so did the guard. Went on for a week. The guy stole 5 wheelbarrows that way.
Everyone was freaking out about what was in those white trucks as they entered Ukraine. They couldn't figure out why they were half-empty and carrying marginally useful stuff. Nobody thought to ask what was in them when they went back to Russia.
You know that Ukrainian jet engine factory... gutted and loaded into trucks. Same goes for a lot of others in reach. Russia has even set up an industrial park and made some sweet deals to get Ukrainian businessmen to relocate along with willing employees. Yup... 5 wheelbarrows.
It's not a perfect solution as it will still take years to get the complicated stuff up to production standards again, but it will cut years off Russia's domestic efforts.

Excellent logic to support the completion of the invasion and conquest of the Ukraine by Russia. Not that Pootie needs a reason.

Not quite true. The Russians lack two things to make it work.
The industrial management school at MIT, and the raw Russian Human talent that fled to Israel.
That is why Israel makes better Russian jet engines than Russia and why Sukhoi is now stuck in the 1980s.

There is another way to look at it. There was a number of innovations by Russian designers during last decades, but Russian military sticks to 70's technology and derivatives of it. Perhaps it is an opportunity to move on.
The best example are the small arms, but there are others. Even if military accepts something, it is more to keep the designer and manufacturer in business, rather than using it on large scale.

I read somewhere that the factory that was stolen was a satellite manufacturing plant?
