There comes a point where it isn't just tradition and sentimentality that preserves the use of old hardware: it's the fact that there is nothing out there that is both cheaper and better at the job.  It's a phenomenon we find fascinating in our industrial revolution minds, where new technology arrives every year.

The Basler BT-67 is produced by Basler Turbo Conversions,    255 West 35th Ave., Oshkosh, WI 54903-2305   USA.  Complete information is available at Basler Turbo Conversions....
I would like to ask Basler why they do not just start manufacturing the entire aircraft.

I would love it if they did too. Unfortunately that is probably beyond their capabilities. Besides, Boeing owns the design, even if it is well past the expiration of any licenses.

The C-47 is not the only WWII aircraft still in "service".  There are well over 100 air worthy P-51's some of which are in "service", at least 4 air worthy PO-2's some of which are in service,  etc.

The U.S. gave probably hundreds of dismantled T-28 to the Philippine government. The Philippine air force (PAF) contracted Philippine Airlines to make them to flying condition. PAF made them weaponized fitted heavy machines and rocket launches to fight the insurgents, etc. It killed lots of pilots diving to targets they couldn't pull up the stick too heavy to fly, T-28 was not meant for fighting after all.

The C-47 is still in actual service, carrying out their designed function, hauling freight. Not just airworthy as implied by your “service”, though a number of the P-51 are stilled used for air racing.
