In Vietnam, helicopter LZs became high-value targets as injured were evacuated. In the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, we had few casualties, so this did not become an issue. What about MEDEVAC in a Hot LZ? We will probably be more effective than in Vietnam (no jungle), but how effective? How have the downsized, under-funded US forces practiced for this in a realistic environment?
