""For example, in Iraq and Afghanistan, convoy operations became much safer and effective by having intelligence troops track where IEDs (roadside bombs and mines) and ambushes were happening, applying some math to predict where future attacks would take place, and routing convoys away from the hot spots"" For a start, it happened because of my strategy satellite support. 2001? I don't think so. The real change would have been seen 2007 to 2012. Satellite support let you follow them instead of killing them. That led them to their hid-outs and IED making facilities. ""predict where future attacks would take place, and routing convoys away from the hot spots."" In 2006/7 it was done by showing them mass army cars using limited roads in masses. Put drones over the roads and wait to night time....Trap dead follow some kill the others. I calculated it takes 1 hour to plan't an IED bomb, so i knew the road size to set up the taps to the distance a done can cove in 1 hour. We set up taps drawing them to us. Convoy was done first with UVAs but was used much after to set up taps.
