militarily I?m not so sure about Turkeys absolute battlefield dominance, they haven?t exactly had all too much combat experience and they are in a rather precarious geographic position as it were, however in saying this i would most likely put my money on Turkey winning a war between the two, especially if it was a long and protracted conflict between the two. However either way even if Turkey did win, it would be a bloody victory, as Greeks forces are often very determined (going on historical examples here). I would even hazard saying that Turkey would most likely sustain far greater casualties, however in today?s world this fight is already decided, economically Greece is dead in the water, they don?t have enough money between them to hire a taxi, let alone mobilise a military force, whereas Turkey is a growing, blossoming economy, the complete opposites of each other, any other day i would have said it would be a damn close run thing, but you can fight a war without an economy, and more specifically without any money at all so it seems that isn?t loaned to you be your generous European neighbours.
It would be like the reverse of the siege of troy, with the Greeks trying to beg for money to buy fuel for the one tank that they have left, and the Turkish forces coming across the Aegean in a seahorse (get it, ha-ha, seahorse, ahhh classic, sigh, wipes tear from corner of eye)
"I forgot to say, that, while speaking about the Greek army, you will have to include the French army too, the Belgian army too etc."
ermm no you don?t, due to Turkeys invaluable geographic position the major European powers would be unlikely to come to the aid of Greece. What does Greece have to offer the EU anymore?, and what does Turkey have to offer?, I?ll tell you, Greece has virtually nothing whereas Turkey is a growing economy, it would be a bad political decision for the EU powers to fight alongside Greece, they won?t necessarily support Turkey either, more likely is that they wouldn?t get involved
"I don't say that the whole European army will defend us" and what European army may that be?, because last time I checked, Europe wasn?t a super state with its own independent universal army
"Plus the American army" they wouldn?t help, They may call for peace as would Britain and maybe France, but overall America likes Turkey for the same reason as most other western nations, therefore they can?t afford to get involved, and could you imagine what would happen if a western coalition intervened, the middle east would be up in arms, every radical from California to Bagdad would cry for the blood of the western non Islamic populous, the west isn?t afraid of the radical middle eastern nations (cough cough Iran), but even we can see the sense of not entering what could possibly be world war 3 in the form of a modern crusade, and besides we wouldn?t be able to move for all the human rights do gooders that we could do with less of besieging our offices and governmental areas, claiming that we were launching a war of racism, honestly, its political correctness gone mad, anyway a little off topic there, so yes America can?t afford to upset Turkey.
"Greece is a special part of this planet. I mean, we are known for the goodies we've given to this world, like democracy, philosophy, science, etc" all every well and good, but I?d like to see them use that to win a war and defend their country.
