Subject: Brazil Invades french Guaina-will it stay Brazil Guaina?
TXAggie93    1/22/2004 4:11:51 PM
Can france take back french Guaina from Brazil or would they fail? What would it take for french to take it back? Would other South American force come to Brazil's aid? Would the USA say let Brazil have it?

Why would Brazil want to ruin its economic ties to Europe over a peace of thirdworld realestate?

TXAggie93 writes "Can france take back french Guaina from Brazil or would they fail?" No and yes in that order. "What would it take for french to take it back?" Buy a navy. Then buy amphib capability. Then get new leadership. Then get prepared to fight another Indo-China war only this time with a lot more casualties on their side. Be prepared to accept the the almost certain likelihood of defeat right from the beginning of the war. "Would other South American force come to Brazil's aid?" Not anybody that could make a significant difference. There is nothing that France could offer to most countries that would cause them to risk getting into a war with Brazil. Certainly close enough or big enough to matter to the conduct of the war. "Would the USA say let Brazil have it?" The question you are really asking is would America place considerable capital, strategic advantage, political goodwill throughout South America and U.S. electorate at risk, all to help _France_ keep a colony that it uses to compete with American space interests and that France points to as an obvious example of its own technical leadership of the world? My answer is ..are you kidding? Northernguy

I came up with this war as a way to see if this justify france need for a nuke carrier. I do not think france could take Brazil with the forces it currently has. And yes I was joking about the US siding with france.

Welp, there is the Roosevelt (Teddy) amendment to the Monroe Doctrine. But more importantly at this point in current history, I can't see GW & company missing a chance to stick a big ol Texas sized thumb in the collective French eye. LONGHORNS, CL

So, Condor lets say the US stays out of it. Do you think france has enough conventional forces to take Guaina back?

Perhaps. But, in light of the current location of much of Frances "useful" conventional ground force (Africa), I rather doubt that France has the logistical ability to transfer that conventional force to South America and then support it for any great length of time. My opinion is no. Not without at least tacit US approval, if not outright support. And they won't get that now... WHINE & CHEESE, CL.
