This may seeem a stupid question but could someone please explain to me calibre sizes for hand guns. I can understand the priciple of 22, 32,38,44,45 in revolvers but where does 9mm fit in when it comes to semi autos? Thanks

It is the diameter or the bore, in inches--as in .45--or in metric measure--as in 9MM.
