The M-14 was not adopted as the US Army's standard rifle until 1957. The M1 Garand was still the standard rifle for the US in Korea, but many M1 Carbines and M1903 Springfields were still used (the later mainly as a sniper rifle).

The M14 wasn't adopted by the U.S. until 1957. In Korea, it was still the M1, although I believe the BAR saw a lot of use.

Dan01    The M14 in Korea   10/10/2006 3:37:40 PM

I served in the 2nd. Recon Squadron, 10 Cav. at Camp Kiaser, Korea from May, 1962 - May 1963.

I was in the 3rd Platoon Rifle Squad and carried a BAR and everyone else had the M1 Garand or M1 carbine except the tank crews.
In Aug.or Sept. 1963 we were all issued the M14s, the select fire lever was removed on all rifles except for those of us that had carried the BAR, everyone else had a seni-automatic rifle.
