Subject: What might happen if west enacts embargo on gasoline to Iran
reefdiver    7/14/2008 12:03:27 PM
Some (Israel) are calling for an embargo on gasoline and diesel shipments to Iran as one of the final list of sanctions to convince Iran to comply on the nuke issue. As most know, though Iran is awash in oil, it has only minimal refining capacity and imports much of its fuel. Though I doubt other Gulf States would agree to this embargo, if it did happen how do you think Iran would respond and what potential scenerios might play out?

Iranian nukes are a done deal. There r 2 skools of thought- 1- Bush approved israel to attack if talks failed and second bush cut a deal to save iraq. All in all iran wins as an israeli attack will be ineffective anyways. in 10 years ran will have 100 nukes easy. Mark my words.

If an embargo on fuel was enforced there would be no choice for Iran it would have to go to war. Attacking the energy supply would cripple the nation and leave Iran with no choice but retaliate or perish.

Iran sees nukes as sovereign right. Look at the way we treat nuclear armed nations. N. Korea has been at the US teat through extortion forever. Why shouldnt Iran go for nukes. Iran's economy might be in shambles but the Mullahs have plenty of cash. Even if they didnt want  the fall of the Black House and Great Satan nuclear weapons almost guarantee a nations survival. Once obtained they would be in the nuclear club and even hostile nations would open up diplomatic relations and send specialists to help keep nukes secure and safe. Nukes are old tech (50+ years) Im suprised it has taken them this long. We are going to have to face facts in 1945 the genie was out and its only a matter of time. If you knew you could start a business work for yourself and make 100k a year no amount of diplomacy from your boss  keep you at your 10.00$ an hour job. Within the decade we will have Iranian nukes on Syrian soil and its doubtful there will be a diplomatic solution. Then the Saudis will want nukes and they will get them probably on lease from US. Dictators Imams and Mullahs have created a new generation of hate directed at "Western Nations" its really only a matte of time. We are emasculated militarily to do anything about it currently the US people cant stomach another war right now (IMO) and Europe will never do anything. The Eiffel tower will be a Minaret in 20 years if current population trends continue. Same with UK and the US slightly further behind. Look at how our laws are being used against us its ridiculous.  Soon our grunts will have no rifle  just a bag of flex cuffs to bind human wave attackers hands to be led of to a court where will we appoint them a lawyer  and make sure they have a religously appropriate meal before giving them citizenship and put on probation.

 Have a nice day

I believe that if gas embargo sanctions are put on Iran, it will be done intentionally to goad Iran into an attack. This would put the US and others in a "righteous" position to fight back.
