Subject: Chieu Hoi for Iraq?

Is there a "Chieu Hoi" style program operating in Iraq? If so, why hasn't it been made more public? If not, why on Earth hasn't it?

I'm not aware of anything like this.  I agree that it is an oversight, although getting a communist to renounce his position vs. getting a committed pan-Islamist to renounce his position is like night and day.  That being said, not all of the insurgency is made up of die hard Islamists.

i'm sure that there is some sort of program like this going on in Iraq, but it's not being publicized for obvious reasons. Even if there isn't, I'm sure a lot of Iraqis have swiched sides multiple times.
