Subject: Why is the situation worse/bad?
FJV    6/26/2007 3:05:10 PM
On some level I cannot see why the current Hamas/Fatah war would be somehow worse for Israel. I also see little difference regardless of outcome, only that Hamas are more open en honest about wanting all Jews dead or to put it in more politically correct terms "pushed in the sea". So you have this war between Fatah who want to kill all the Jews and Hamas who want to kill all the Jews. They only differ in opinion on wheter it is OK to lie about this to get foreign aid money and on who will be running the Palestinians. What's the difference? Why fear Hamas more than Fatah? A Hamas victory can even have some benefits. First Hamas honesty would at least prevent the next round of killing being called a peace process. This would end that nonsense and Israel. In my opinion there never really was a peace process. Without the possibility of maintaining the charade of this peace process, Israel might be more focussed again on securing it's existence. Second they are worse at getting funds, because up until now they have been to stupid to lie in order to get aid. Israel might actually end up an opponent that is as bad in public relations as they are. And the'll have less money. Apart from that not all that much difference.

In terms of elementary humanity it is bad, but it is not America's or Israel's fault and we are under no obligation to be particularly horrified that our enemies desire to kill each other. Strategically it is actually most useful to us and there is no particular reason not to sit back and if not enjoy, not be overcome with grief.
