Gee, she's so right!

Yet, she offers no ideas on how to bring a solution to Israel's problems with the Arabs.
The US forces are doing a sterling job in Iraq, only because they have a willing Iraqi partner, the Iraqi government, who offers the people a workable alternative to jihadi rule.
Israel has no such thing in Gaza, and the Fatah in the WB is indeed all what she says it is.
Also, she for some reason supports the Bibi, who as a prime minister weakened Israel more than anything before him, by destroying whatever the country had left of social cohesion and basic national solidarity.

I always thought she was more then a bit of a gloomy gus. Of course so was Cassandra. But still you can't always focus on bad things. We are all still alive and reasonably prosperous.
Besides if people wrote up Augustus' time like they do today, it would sound remarkably similar. "Three legions have been trapped by the barbarians in the Teutoberg forest. A Senate commitee is being gathered to asess the blame." And yet, looking back, that time looks rather pleasant as such things go.

BIbi...please

You name Bibi as the ultimate culprit for Israel's woes....That just does not fly. His "social" reforms basically kept the Israeli economy afloat after the 2nd intifada which by the way was caused by oslo, which Bibi was the most unwilling actor in that diplomatic farce(Peres,Rabin,Barak were clearly the main culprits for the Oslo disaster). Israeli economy is one of the fastest growing economies of the democratic world today. Its shekel is now competing against the euro!! The fact is that Israel by virtue of its main asset (brain power) and its geographical size will be best served with a more entrapeneurial based economy (other countries with the same profile that have utilized the entrepeneur model; Taiwan, singapore, S.korea). I know that this goes against the bolshevik-communist ethos of the mapai party but facts are facts, reducing child welfare payments that only helped the arab and hareidi community deserves applause, fixing Israel's monopolistic banking industry should be applauded, reforming a welfare system that encoureges citizens to unemployment should be employed. I think anyone with a clear cool head can see that in Israel....less govt. is much better then more govt.
I'm not a huge Bibi fan, but to say he's the worst in light of what's going on this very day, requires those that advocate such a Bibi position as absurd. Olmert in my estimation is the worst....a bungled war in the north, the refusal to defend his own sovereignty in the south against a much weaker enemy, and engaging in delusional diplomacy (oslo II) that grants legitamacy to Israel's enemies and at the same time weakening Israel's deterrence to the point that in Israel today....most everyone expects a war in the next 2 years. After Olmert comes Barak as israel's worst PM, his performance at camp david in 2000 coupled with the hasty and ignomineous retreat from S.Lebanon which had resulted in a complete upgrade in Hezbollah capabilities that Israel was forced to combat last year. Puts him well ahead of Bibi in terms of strategic thinking as Israel's 2nd worst prime minister.
Sharon is a little more tough to quantify, he did alot of good, but he also did alot of bad (he tore apart his own party and ushered in an era of corruption never seen to this degree in Israeli politics) He promoted all the cronies and yes-men (Sharon was about accumulating greater power for himself) in the knesset and when he left the scene Israel was forced to have to be led by the corrupt, unworthy leaders that he left behind. His legacy was the formation of a political party (Kadima) believed in political expediency over any principles and beliefs, and they sold to a gullible Israeli public as the "pragmatic approach". But he ended the 2nd intifada, and as head of Israel the world new that their was strength in the decision making process behind israel war machine.
Bibi in my opinion will hold the fort, he won't make things alot better, but he won't let things get worse, and I think in the absence of any other alternative, he's the best Israel has right now....definitely better then Barak-Livni or Olmert!!
