Subject: Maybe it's not about Hamas.
FJV    1/12/2009 3:03:17 PM
-1st war against Hezbollah (an Iranian proxy) -2nd Attacks against Syria taking out chemical/nuclear? weapons (Iran's ally of sorts) -3rd war against Hamas (an Iranian proxy) Seems like Israel is taking out means for Iran to retaliate against them should their nuclear weapons program be destroyed by either the US or Israel. It does nothing for the Israel Palestinian conflict, however it does make it easier Israel or the US to do something about Iranian nukes.

I like the way you think.  That's another one of those "if it isn't true, it ought to be" moments.

Remember even in Syria there were IDF forces on the ground at that strike.
So maybe Israel is building up an evidence cache from the three above mentioned incidents to show a "pattern" of Iran's behalf.
Like WE have evidence in multiple instances of Iran attacking us via proxies.  So since we have evidence of Iran's nuclear program we must defend ourself in a preemptive strike.  We do this because IRan has shown a pattern of aggressiveness toward Israel.

It's a good thought but I'd use the necessary/sufficient distinction to sort things out a bit better.

Gaza op is a necessary condition for a strike on Iran, but it's not sufficient for it. Meaning: it has to be done if there is to be an Iran strike; but that it was done doesn't indicate there will be an Iran strike.

The reason(s)? The Israeli polity has a hard time with fact-facing. There is no leadership (no strategic vision) in Israel. There is likely to be little strategic or tactical cooperation from the US -- or anyone else for that matter. Not a good combination.

These enemies are not latent but are active proxies of Iran that force Israel's hand to have to defend itself or accept an intolerable reality of daily rocket barrages...

Iran is an aggressive nation that uses her proxies without much hesitation. Let us be thankful that Hamas did not wait patiently like Hezbollah for 8 yrs and then flex its muscles.

Syria, Lebanon, the Pali's are puppets.

Wake up. We are lame, and have let this happen.

Israel is just trying to keep it's head above water until we do something about Iran. And we are Lame.
Prognosis for more lame to come. Or maybe actively hugging terrorists. we'll see.
