Subject: Israel's 'Spice' bomb.
reefdiver    4/23/2006 1:29:50 PM
Anyone know much about Israel's 'Spice' optical pattern-matching bomb? Is it actually available and deployed? Are they planning smaller 500lb and maybe 250lb? Is the US considering purchasing any of these or just counting on using the DAMASK technology for the equivalent?

here's the main link I found: link

I took a quick glance on Jane's. According to it Spice 1000 & 2000 (1000 & 2000lbs) have been operational with IDF/AF F-16s since 2003. Integration is planed to F-15, A-4 and Gripen. (Could be done with any MIL-STD 1760/1553B databus equiped aircraft (And is compatible something called "common interface" to help integration with older aircraft). Rafael has stated it has export orders for Spice, but none has been delivered. No mention about US or 500 & 250lbs versions.
