| This is a solution perhaps looking for a problem...but the rather wicked thought occurred to me that one could take the new Sherpa GPS guided parachute resupply system, attach a bunch of claymores on the bottom of a plate under it at various inclinations, and then wire the claymore triggers to a cheap polaroid distance sensor (or to GPS signals from the sherpa itself) with software to fire the claymores something like 40 ft (or whatever) off the ground. It might make an interesting mess if guided over a group of fox-holed opponents. Of course, it would be slow on arrival, but after a couple of these went off the word might get around and the future approach of even an un-armed parachute might send people scurrying out of their holes. A bit impractical at $68,000 a unit for the Sherpa (unless you could save it), this is yet another half-baked idea.... |
