The difference and potential value appears to me to be that APKWS is still pretty much the standard size of 2.75in rocket, and while (the current version at least) is only particularly useful against unarmored or only quite lightly armored targets, it can be launched from the standard 7- and 19-round launchers.

Looks like it is an add on that can be fitted to rockets, (or at least components) in current inventory too. Might hopefully reduce costs?
