Subject: Anti air FAE

Would a fuel air explosive be an effective warhead against aircraft? I am guessing that the overpressure and heat would at least damage an incoming aircraft and would probably knock down any incoming missles. Do you guys know of any time it has been used like that?

Red hot metal fragments are far more effective at slicing and dicing an aircraft than blast. Aircraft suffer from being filled with flamable liquids and vulnerable components.

Because a FAE warhead must mix with air and this takes a finite time to be effective it is not practicle for A-A weapons.
