you do of course realise that this turns the whole concept of the 'f14 and phoenix superior stand-off' right on its head. would certainly make attacks on carrier groups a lot easier. in Harpoon the main pain was the Hawkeye, kill that and the fleet had to light up radar and then you knew where they were. with such a toy as this you could kill the hawkeyes, and the tankers etc and get close enough to brew a CVN hopefully they havent sold em to china yet

Well, last time I heard about this missile was when I heard about some weight related problems. What makes me really curious about this missile is that in some Russian sources they say that it could be used in anti-satellite warfare when used on aircraft flying over 20km altitude (MiG-31 comes to my mind). I dont believe that Chinese will get their hands on this without espionage because of the Indians... they dont want to share such technology and Russians are happy with Indian money (although succesfull espionage could happen, and probably happens sooner or later). This missile has potential, but itīs coming a bit too late... Itīs so big that one can guess that it could be targeted with AA missiles with some success and I wouldnīt be sure if it can resist severe jamming (grilling) which is possible with AESA radars, never to mention "normal" ECM.. anyway, no matter how bad or good it will be, a AAM with such practical/theoretical range does have effect on opponentīs plans.

the other end of the whole 'grilling' idea is that it makes for a very bright target for the missile, if its robustly enough constructed it could fly right on own the beam
